My passion for health and wellbeing began in the early 1990s, following treatment for a frozen shoulder that led me to the Alexander Technique. Not only did this resolve my shoulder problem, but the profound improvements in my posture and breathing completely cleared the severe asthma I had lived with since I was a baby. It also restored my ability to play badminton and the flute, transforming both my daily life and my relationship with movement.
Inspired by these life-changing results, I trained full-time as an Alexander Technique teacher from 1993 to 1996.
For nearly three decades, I have been teaching and supporting pupils in experiencing the wide-ranging benefits of this gentle yet powerful re-education of mind and movement.
Alongside my Alexander Technique work, I am an experienced flute teacher and have worked extensively with both professional and amateur musicians. I was also the visiting Alexander Technique teacher at the University of Southampton’s Music Department for 10 years, helping students improve their performance and physical wellbeing.
My work has taken me into a variety of settings, including private schools, and I have devised and delivered talks and workshops both in the UK and Internationally. I also spent five years working closely with people living with Parkinson’s disease, supporting individuals and groups with noticeable improvements in breathing, movement and muscle control.
Over the past 30 years, my commitment to health and helping others has led me to gain further qualifications in Therapeutic and Oncology Massage, Naturopathic Nutrition, and most recently, Scar Therapy. This broad training allows me to offer a holistic, person-centred approach tailored to each client’s needs.
I hold professional and public liability insurance and an Enhanced DBS check and see clients in a calm and peaceful environment at my practice in Basingstoke.
